How Old Are The People On Golden Bachelor

Let’s be honest. When you watch The Golden Bachelor, you’re not just watching a dating show. You’re watching a masterclass in confusing math.

These people are supposed to be in their golden years. But somehow, they look like they’ve discovered the fountain of youth at a CVS.

The Ages Don’t Add Up

The show says the women are between 60 and 75. Then you see them doing yoga in heels. My own grandma at 65 had a hip replacement and a deep suspicion of any vegetable not cooked in butter.

Maybe I’m just jealous. I’m 34 and I groan when I have to bend over to tie my shoes. These folks are out here running in the sand without breaking a sweat.

It feels like a different species. Homo sapiens eternus.

The Magic of Reality TV Numbers

I think there’s a secret formula. Take the real age, subtract ten years, and add a filter. Then you get “reality TV age.”

One woman says she’s 64. She also says her favorite hobby is “wakeboarding.” Ma’am, at 64, my favorite hobby is “having a seat after standing for three minutes.”

It creates a wild disconnect. You’re watching a date, and you think, “Wow, she’s cool.” Then she mentions her grandson is in college. My brain short-circuits.

Don’t Even Get Me Started on Gerry

Gerry, the Bachelor himself, is 72. He looks like he raided a catalog for “Retired Cool Dad.” He’s charming, he’s fit, he remembers the lyrics to songs from 1985.

Meanwhile, my uncle Tony is 72. He wears socks with sandals and argues about the best way to prune a hydrangea. He would not be Golden Bachelor material.

So either Gerry is a superhuman outlier. Or the show picked him from a secret lab of super-seniors.

What’s Their Secret?

I’ve tried to crack the code. Is it the Botox? The clean eating? The sheer power of love?

I think it’s lighting. Good lighting takes off 20 years. If you put me under a soft lamp and a golden hour filter, I could pass for 29. Maybe.

But seriously, these people look incredible. It makes the rest of us feel a little lazy. I had a salad yesterday and I felt like a health guru. They probably run marathons before breakfast.

My Unpopular Opinion

Here’s the thing no one says out loud: They aren’t really 70. They’re 70 the way a Hollywood movie is “based on a true story.”

I don’t mean they are lying. I mean they are a curated version of 70. They are the aspirational 70. The 70 you get if you have a personal trainer, a chef, and no mortgage stress.

The real 70s are full of aching knees and early bird specials. These are Golden 70s. They sparkle.

Let’s Do the Math

Let’s play a game. If the show says she is 65, how old is she really? I propose the Golden Bachelor Conversion Chart.

Stated Age 65 = Real Age 72. Stated Age 70 = Real Age 80. Gerry at 72 = Real Age 90. But with a great dentist.

It’s the only way to make sense of it. Otherwise, I have to accept that life begins at 70. And I’m not ready for that kind of pressure.

It’s All Relative Anyway

Age is just a number, right? Right. Unless that number is 74 and you’re having a rose ceremony at 10 PM. Then age is definitely a factor.

These people are changing the game. They are proving that 60 is the new 40. Or the new 50. Or at least the new “has a very good plastic surgeon.”

I respect the hustle. I just want the show to be honest. Give them a subtitle: “Ages Are Approximate. Results May Vary. Please Don’t Compare Yourself to These Demi-Gods.”

Final Confession

Despite my snark, I’m hooked. I watch every episode.

I want to believe that I too could be that vibrant at 72. That maybe, just maybe, I’ll retire to a beach house and date a man who drives a convertible.

But right now, I’m 34 and I can’t stay up past 10:30. So I’ll just marvel at the Golden Bachelor folks. They are ageless, beautiful, and clearly living in a different dimension than the rest of us.

And I’m perfectly fine being jealous on my couch.
